Holy Trinity Church, Castlerae – Co. Roscommon

Holy Trinity Church in Castlerae Co. Roscommon was completed in 1819 on a piece of ground given by the Sandford Family of Castlerae House, who were settled and lived in Castlerae since 1649. This was to replace the now moss covered ruin of the first Protestant church, still visible in the adjacent graveyard . The church was not in use and pretty run down when we were commissioned to restore the stained glass behind the alter.  The project to rejuvenate the building was run by the Castlerae Community Arts Group Ltd.

Inis Meain – Arann Island

I was sent beyond the Irish west coast to the island of Inis Meain, the middle of the three Arann Islands. I had to replace the protective glazing system they had in place.  The rust expansion of the mild steel frames  cracked many of the clear glass panes. The frames had to be knocked out, plasterwork patched up and once that was done I took templates of the new sizes.  We installed a new system of clear laminate glass. Most of the stained glass work in the church were done by Harry Clarke and therefore quite valuable.
